The Studio
Saakshi means witness
From the Sanskrit sākṣī — from sa, with, and aksha, eyes. One who perceives directly. We named the studio for the job rather than for ourselves, because that is what the work actually is: being there, paying attention, and not looking away.
A witness does not turn up for the big day and leave. Which is why we would rather photograph a family across the engagement, the wedding, the pregnancy and the years that follow than meet you once and hand over a gallery.
Vithu is the photographer you will work with for a session — family, maternity, engagement, branding, holiday minis. Same person, every time, for as many years as you keep booking. Several of our families are on their sixth.
Gaya is our second photographer, at every wedding and every larger celebration. Not a freelancer hired for the day — we have worked together for years, which is the difference between two photographers and one photographer plus a stranger.
Our work is unhurried. We give prompts rather than poses, then we wait. The frame worth keeping is usually the one just after the one you posed for.

How We Work
One photographer who knows your family.
Two at your wedding.
Most studios do it the other way round — whoever is free for your session, and a second shooter billed as an extra on the wedding day.
Vithu shoots your sessions. You are not assigned whoever is available that weekend, and you do not start over with someone new next year. That continuity is why the pictures get better the longer we know you.
Both of us photograph every wedding, on all three collections — included, not an upgrade. One of us stays with you; the other is catching the room, the grandparents, the details nobody remembers to ask for.
We direct enough that nobody has to perform, and leave enough room that something real happens. Expect to walk, play and laugh rather than hold a smile.

What We Know
We know when the thali is tied,
and where to stand for it
A large part of our work is Tamil and Hindu ceremonies, and that is not something you can learn from a shot list on the morning of. We know the sequence. We know the Saptapadi, the garland exchange, the Haldi and the Mehndi, and the quiet twenty minutes before any of it begins when the best frames tend to happen.
That knowledge is the difference between documenting a ceremony and chasing it — and it means we are never the reason a family has to stop and explain something on their own wedding day.
We photograph Valaikappu, first birthdays, holy communions and baptisms for the same reason. These are the days a family actually marks its year by.
